There's certain things to count on in life - death, taxes and the Liberty North boys basketball team winning games at its home tournament.

Now in the fifth year of the annual event, the Eagles have posted an impressive 12-1 record in Liberty North Invitational games. The latest victory came in the nightcap of the first round tonight at Liberty North Fieldhouse - a convincing 71-57 win against Kansas City Northeast.

A key 12-0 run in the middle of the fourth quarter extended a five-point cushion to 17-point gap. Dom Fragola and James Perry scored 17 points each for the Eagles while Tyson Cathy added 14 points.

Shawnee Mission North, the defending Class 6A Kansas state champ, had no trouble putting away Raymore-Peculiar, 49-31. Park Hill handled St. Pius X, 60-29. The only close game of the day came in the opening game as St. Joseph Central held off Kearney in a defensive slugfest, 42-39.
