Liberty North returns for homecoming
After hitting the road for the past two games – both Suburban Red Conference losses – the Eagles will come home.
Liberty North will celebrate homecoming at 7 p.m. tonight against Park Hill. But who will be on the football field for the game?
Injuries have mounted for the Eagles in recent weeks, and several question marks linger heading into tonight's game. Now they have to take on the team that has ended their season each of the past two years.
It's not exactly good timing. At last check, Liberty North (2-5 overall record) had many unanswered questions about who will be available, who will start, and who will be able to finish the game.
So what happens is pretty much anyone's guess. But the bottom line is that a struggling Eagles team will have its hands full tonight against Park Hill (4-3), which is loaded with athletic players.
PREDICTION: Park Hill 27, Liberty North 13
After starting the season 5-0, the Blue Jays have lost two in a row.
They can not afford to drop a third straight. Liberty will attempt to do that at 7 p.m. tonight at Truman High School.
Despite the two losses, the Blue Jays (5-2) remain ranked No. 10 in the Class 5 state poll. However, that fact will not scare the Patriots, who took No. 2 Battle to overtime last week before falling, 44-36.
Truman (3-4) has shown the ability to run the ball against anyone this season. Liberty's defense, particularly the front seven, must be ready to answer the challenge.
If the Blue Jays can at least slow down the Patriots' run game, they should be able to win this game as long as they can be effective on offense themselves. Liberty needs to get junior running back Robert Rawie and its own ground game back on track this week and do a better job finishing drives than they have the past two weeks.
PREDICTION: Liberty 37, Truman 20
