The Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum presents the seventh annual Children's Garden Day program in partnership with the Master Gardeners of Greater Kansas City from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, July 13, 4109 NE Pleasant Valley Road.

Visitors are welcome to the farm's heirloom vegetable and herb garden where families will learn about gardening and the importance of growing their own food. Free children's crafts, activities, recipes and demonstrations will be available. Each child can take home a seed starter kit. Garden tours will be available for visitors led by experienced Master Gardeners.

As part of the garden day, StoneLion Puppet Theatre offers a related puppet show featuring Red who is tired of her dusty backyard and decides to plant a garden. She asks all of her neighbors, Rover the Dog, Patches the Cat, and Doris the Duck, to help.

Community involvement, water quality and healthy lifestyles make the barnyard and the planet a better place, per the puppet theater.
