Recognizing lifesavers

Clay County Commissioners honor park rangers during their June 3 meeting for assisting a woman who had been struck by lightning earlier in the spring while at Smithville Lake. The woman suffered burns near the Jack Rabbit Bend trailer parking and was rushed to an area hospital. She is expected to recover. Clay County staffers said the quick action of the park rangers aiding in the woman's positive health outcome. Those honored for life-saving work included Rangers Sean Benjamin, Melissa Mahoney and Jeremy Monaco.
