KANSAS CITY — A medium-sized Brinks armored vehicle was rear ended while stopped at the traffic light at Shoal Creek Parkway on eastbound Missouri Highway 152 in Kansas City by an eastbound black Chevy one-ton pickup, according to Kansas City Police Department Public Information Officer Darin Snapp.

The accident occurred at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 7.

Eastbound Highway 152 is closed from Interstate 435 to Shoal Creek Parkway while officers continue an investigation.

"They will measure skid marks if there are any," Snapp said, explaining that the speed at which the pick-up was traveling was still undetermined. "I doubt he touched his breaks at all."

Both vehicles carried one passenger each, the driver of the Chevy pickup was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. The driver of the Brinks vehicle was unharmed.

Upon collision, the rear of the Brinks vehicle opened in some capacity, leaving a large amount of change on the highway. While the investigation continues, Brinks employees are working to clean up the change.

The road was expected to be closed for a few hours. Alternate routes are suggested.
