Smithville City Administrator Cynthia Wagner said repairs for the Main Street sinkhole would begin Monday, July 8, weather permitting. The road will be close during that time, through Wednesday, July 10, from Mill Street to Bridge Street.

In addition to work on Main Street, aldermen are moving ahead with work to repair Amory Road, which partially collapsed earlier this year. Aldermen approved changing a resolution that originally designated $39,980 to investigate the road failure.

The dollar amount has been increased to $73,820 to provide funds to complete design, bidding and construction management services for the repair.
