CLAY COUNTY — The Clay County Collector’s Office is partnering with CivicSource, an online auctions site for tax-distressed real estate, to host community information sessions on how to participate in the upcoming tax sale. Sessions will be held at noon and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, at Restoration 1894, located at 1 E. Kansas St. in Liberty.
The events are free and open to the public, with lunch provided at the noon session. Training on all aspects of bidding in the 2019 delinquent tax auction will be covered. To reserve a seat, visit events.CivicSource.com.
“While traditional tax lien sales require participants to be physically present at the courthouse during an auction, Clay County’s technology-driven auctions take place online,” states a release. “The accessible online auctions allow bidders to conduct property research and participate in the tax sale from any internet-ready device."
Clay County Tax Collector Lydia McEvoy hosted the county’s annual tax sale online with CivicSource for the first time in 2017. More than 150 properties are scheduled to be auctioned this year.
All bidders must register online by 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at CivicSource.com to bid in the tax sale on Monday, Aug. 26. For the registration forms and additional tax sale guidelines, visit claycountymo.tax/taxsale.
