LIBERTY — Police identified two people found dead in a recreational vehicle park Tuesday, July, 16, as Natalie Jefferson, 20, of Liberty; and Nicholas Rivers, 19, of Gilbert, Arizona.
There is evidence Jefferson and Rivers both died from gunshot wounds “in completion of a suicide pact,” according to a release from the Liberty Police Department.
“We are still waiting on the medical examiner and toxicology reports,” said Capt. Andy Hedrick, Liberty police’s public information officer, as the causes of death remain under investigation. “We are doing our due diligence to understand this case in its entirety.”
Police responded around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, to the reported deaths at Doc’s RV Park, 1600 Southview Drive. Jefferson and Rivers were found deceased inside a recreational vehicle at the address, Hedrick said.
“Detectives were kept busy, along with crime scene investigators from the Kansas City Police and the medical examiner until around 8 p.m.,” Hedrick said.
While undisclosed evidence leads officers to believe a suicide pact maybe involved, the pubic information officer said the case is being investigated as a murder-suicide and that no public threat exists.
