Kearney Senior Center will offer free games of Wii bowling at 9 a.m. followed by PEPPI exercise class at 10 a.m. The center serves lunch at 11:30 a.m. at 600 N. Jefferson St. Meals are $4.50 each. The First Friday Book Group will meet at 10 a.m. at the Kearney library branch, 100 S. Platte-Clay Way.

Visitors and locals alike are invited to learn about the history of Kearney at the Kearney Historic Museum, 101 S. Jefferson St. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Friday. Admission is free but donations are encouraged.

Kearney Farmers & Artisan Market will be open from 7 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Kearney School District Early Education Center, located at the corner of Missouri Highways 33 and 92. The market includes homegrown produce, locally harvested meat and artisan creations like bath products. Kearney Enrichment Council sponsors Family Fun Day at the Market on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon.

Monday, June 10

Weekly technical help for computers, cellphones and other handheld devices is available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Firehouse Community Center’s Tech Cafe, 106 S. Jefferson St. For more information, call 903-3535. The program is also on Wednesday.

Tuesday, June 11

A free PEPPI exercise class, aimed to keep older adults independent, is at 9 a.m. followed by games of bingo at 9:45 a.m. at Firehouse Community Center.

Storytime for babies, where children are read a story, is from 9:30 to 9:50 a.m. at Kearney’s Mid-Continent library branch. Storytime for preschoolers is at 10:30 a.m. Open Wildlife will present a deluxe program on raptors at 6:30 p.m. Call 628-5055 to register.

A weekly senior citizen dance will be at 1 p.m. at Annunciation Community Center, 705 N. Jefferson St. in Kearney. For details, call 628-5030.

The Kearney Food Pantry, which offers temporary food assistance to area residents who live within the Kearney School District boundaries, is open for those needing assistance from 2 to 4 p.m. at the rear entrance of 113 E. Genealogy assistance to those researching their family history is at 6 p.m. at Firehouse Community Center.

Kearney Business Group, a referral group that focuses on one membership per industry category, meets at 8 a.m. every Thursday to learn about city businesses, sharing details on growing businesses and to pass along referrals. The group meets in the K.C. Coyote offices of First Missouri Bank’s building at 455 Sam Barr Drive, Suite 107.

A chance to learn about the solar system with astronauts, aliens and a talking moon will be presented by StoneLion Puppet Theatre at Kearney’s Mid-Continent library branch. Call 628-5055 to register.
