Interstate 35 southbound, closed

CLAY COUNTY — All lanes of Interstate 35 southbound are closed due to multiple vehicle accidents north of Liberty near the Missouri State Highway Patrol weigh station at around mile marker 23. The northbound lanes have been opened after being closed briefly, according to the highway patrol.

According to a report received by Clay County Captain Will Akin, the collision started with one crash and while the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Clay County Sheriff's Department law enforcement professionals were working the scene, more collisions occurred.

Alternate routes are suggested.

The Courier-Tribune will post more information as it becomes available.
