SMITHVILLE — Participating in the annual Smithville Kiwanis Club fishing derby June 1 netted a day of sunshine with parents and grandparents and some trophies for area youngsters. Trophies were handed out at the derby, held at Helvey Park Lake off Helvey Park Drive, for most fish caught, smallest fish and largest fish for children in age bracket.

The following are winners for each category.

Ages 1 to 3

Most fish: Tommy Chandler

Biggest fish: Logan Pittman

Smallest fish: Elias Chambers

Ages 4 to 5

Most fish: Bowen Brandt

Biggest fish: Micah Piland

Smallest fish: Lilly Campbell

Ages 6 to 7

Most fish: Lacey Wilson

Biggest fish: Hensley Hurst

Smallest fish: Nicholas Borchert

Ages 8 to 10

Most fish: Kaitlyn Crouch

Biggest fish: Cole Thomas

Smallest fish: Kale Smithee

Ages 11 to 13

Most fish: Rayce Ralston

Biggest fish: Michael Crouch

Smallest fish: Flynn Gray

Ages 14 and older

Biggest fish: Jace Thomas
