KC Scholars is a non-profit organization established by the Kauffman Foundation, which offers scholarships to those in the Kansas City Metropolitan area who may not have fiscal means to afford college otherwise.
"KC Scholars was incubated at the Kauffman Foundation to continue its legacy of support for postsecondary attainment," its website states. "Scholars was intentionally and purposefully designed as a community asset. Over 70 members of the region worked together for over a year to plan KC Scholars and it is now an independent 501(c)(3), situated in the community, with a community-based board of directors."
Scholarships range from adult learner scholarships for those who want to go back to school, to college savings accounts for those who are just starting high school. Traditional scholarships are available, and exclusive scholarships for students attending University of Missouri — Columbia and Kansas City.
