Durham app

KEARNEY — To help families track the location of a student’s bus, Durham Transportation, the company that provides bus services to the Kearney School District, has created an app.

The app allows families to track a bus in near real-time including the scheduled arrival time of each stop.

Secondary bus routes begin around 6:30 a.m. on school days. Elementary routes begin around 7:30 a.m. To access bus information on the app, a student’s identification number will be needed. The district sent families an email containing the needed ID number and directions on how to download the app, states a district release.

For more details, call 628-9003.

In addition to having an app to track buses, families can opt to receive text alerts from the district regarding snow days and special events.

“Winter certainly threw us some curve balls last school year. KSD knows you want information about school schedule changes, special events and other important school details as quickly as possible. KSD uses School Messenger to send communications directly to you,” states a district release.

Families can receive messages from the district level, building level or from individual teachers.

To receive texts, text “Yes” to 67587.
