Maple Elementary School dedicates free library

Students, families and members of business and education communities in Smithville joined together Wednesday, May 22, outside Maple Elementary School, 600 Maple Ave., for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony. Students from the Maple Leadership Group developed the idea of the Maple Elementary Little Free Library and constructed it for the surrounding neighborhood. "Every single person, from our kindergarteners to sixth-graders in our group had an idea that was put in to this," a press release on the project states. "Our Little Free Library is open at anytime to anyone in our community to take a book for free. ... You could keep it or switch the book out for another."
