JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Conservation reminds ginseng harvesters and dealers of new regulations that become effective July 1. MDC sent letters to registered ginseng dealers with the information late last year after regulations were approved.

Many people live busy lives, but when they stop to smell the roses they might see a pollinator balanced on the petals. It’s easy to think of pollen only in terms of what it does to those suffering from seasonal allergies, but pollen is essential for plant and animal life.

The Missouri Department of Conservation and the Missouri Community Forestry Council are accepting nominations for the 2025 Missouri Arbor Award of Excellence. The annual award recognizes communities, institutions, businesses, organizations and individuals that make significant and long-lasting efforts to care for trees in their communities, according to the MDC.

On June 7, 2025, Congressman Sam Graves wrote to his constituents in his newsletter about his concern for our nation’s rural hospitals. He has reintroduced the Save America’s Rural Hospital Act. He says the bill would provide rural hospitals with additional reimbursement funding from Medicare that they haven’t been receiving.
