Melissa Elizabeth Haas of Lee’s Summit and Thomas William Day of Lee’s Summit announce their engagement. Melissa is the daughter of Laurie Otto of Kearney and the late Jeff Haas. Thomas is the son of Mark and Lisa Day of Woodstock, Georgia.

The future bride attended the University of Missouri-Columbia for two years, then transferred to the University of West Georgia, where she graduated with a degree in mass communications and a minor in marketing. She is a representative at 24/7 Express Logistics and a dance instructor at Studio d Dance Co. Her maternal grandparents are Fred and Jean Karn of Kearney; and her paternal grandparents are the late Grover and Phyllis Haas.

The future groom graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in geography from Kennesaw State University and is an account executive at Freight Quote. His maternal grandparents are Thomas and Nancy Palmer of Roswell, Georgia; and his paternal grandparents are Roy and Martha Day of Alpharetta, Georgia.

The couple plans a June 6, 2015, wedding at The Chapel at Loretto in Kansas City at 5:30 p.m. A reception will be held in the grand ballroom at The Loretto, located near the Plaza in Kansas City.
