Girl Scouts recruitment coming

LIBERTY — According to the Girl Scouts of Northeast Kansas and Northwest Missouri, girls choose their adventures when they are Girl Scouts like sleeping under the stars at Twilight Camp, learning survival techniques in the outdoors at Zombie Campout and providing thousands of hours in service to a wide variety of community organizations.

Girl Scouts get to experience a wide range of adventures in the four program focus areas of entrepreneurship; science, technology, engineering, arts and math; outdoor experiences; and civic engagement. In these areas, girls earn age-progressive badges. There is also civic engagement which provides girls with opportunities for service hours. These hours aid in admittance into National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, and opens girls up to scholarship opportunities.

Girls in kindergarten and higher grades not yet Girl Scouts along with their family members can learn more about scouting from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18, at Liberty Middle School, 1500 S. Withers Road. To find out how to get involved, contact Chloe Fey at or visit
