The 125th anniversary decal on the Liberty Fire Department firetrucks are now on display.

LIBERTY — The Liberty Fire Department is marking its 125th year and the big birthday party open house begins at noon Saturday, Oct. 19.

The party will be at Fire Station 1, 200 W. Mississippi St., and concludes at 3 p.m. The community is invited to meet some of the firefighters who serve Liberty.

There will be tours of the fire station, firefighter games, a chance to try on firefighter gear, spray water and go through the trailer with simulator smoke like firefighters do, learn how to possibly save someone's life using hands-only CPR with Liberty Hospital. There will also be a chance to see Huck, the department's 1935 La France firetruck as well as other firetrucks and ambulances.

There will be light refreshments provided by Hy-Vee and Eileen's Colossal Cookies.
