Two Northland communities in the Courier-Tribune coverage area will honor veterans in time for Veterans Day.
Liberty Public Schools will hold its Salute to Veterans Breakfast Friday, Nov. 8, at Discovery Middle School, 800 Midjay Drive. The event includes breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and then a brief program with choirs performing patriotic music from about 8:30 to 9 a.m.
In Smithville, American Legion Post No. 58 Auxiliary is hosting an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet in honor of those who serve from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Legion post, 2607 NE Missouri Highway 92.
The meal is free for veterans and active military members. For other adults, meals are $9 each and are $5 for children ages 12 and under.
Also in Smithville, the American Legion is partnering with Smithville High School to host an annual breakfast with veterans starting at 7 a.m. on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, at 645 S. Commercial Ave.
An assembly honoring local vets will follow at 8 a.m. in the main gymnasium.
