The 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer's was held across the Northland on Saturday, Oct. 10. This year, the walk was held virtually and everyone was encouraged to walk in small teams. Tom Prichard, a financial advisor for Edward Jones in Liberty and a lead sponsor for the Northland walk, joined together with family and friends at his office near Liberty High School. Brothers, sisters, daughter, and grandchildren of the Prichard family walked in memory of his parents who both passed away last year from Alzheimer's. For the past five years, Edward Jones has been a presenting sponsor and donated $25 million, a number they have pledged to double over the next five years. According to a recent survey conducted by Edward Jones and Age Wave, U.S. retirees rank Alzheimer's and dementia as the most feared health condition in later life. Prichard and his family said walk because "We refuse to stand by and watch this disease destroy lives, we walk for our loved ones, we walk to raise awareness and financial support to accelerate the day when we find a cure."
