St. James Catholic Church of Liberty

From 4 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, the church will host a soup supper at 309 S. Stewart Road. There will be a prayer service at 5:45 p.m.

Second Baptist Church of Liberty

As part of Lent, the congregation of Second Baptist Church, 300 E. Kansas St., will be hosting Evensong on Wednesdays from March 4 to April 1. The service is from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. The Lenten theme this year is “Dissident Discipleship.” During the five evenings of Evensong, there will be an examination of serenity, service, witness and spirituality. Various mediums will be used including visual arts, spirituals, text, prayers, film, storytelling and novels.

Hosanna Lutheran Church

The congregation of Hosanna Lutheran Church, 2800 N. Church Road, will be studying “Les Miserables.” During Lent, lessons will be on the six ideals found in the story – grace, justice, poverty, revolution, love, and hope – each represented by a character in Victor Hugo’s novel. The study will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesdays leading up to Easter.

Precious Blood Renewal Center of Liberty

From 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, the church, 2120 Gaspar Way, offers an evening of contemplative prayer that will feature a guided mediation based on the stations of the cross. Father Ron Will will lead.

On Thursday, March 5, there will be a day of personal reflection. The day begins with a 7 a.m. Mass and lunch. The suggested donation is $8 for lunch. That evening, from 7 to 8 p.m., there will be a Taizé Prayer, a prayer service using simple chant melodies followed by quieting amounts of silence in a meditative atmosphere. Liberty United Methodist Church

The Liberty United Methodist Men will have its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, at the study center of the Sunset campus, 1001 Sunset Ave. The guest speaker will be Associate Pastor Ginger Pudenz. The group welcomes visitors.

Smithville Family Worship Center
