CLAY COUNTY — As National Blood Donor Month continues this January, the American Red Cross shared in a press release that the start of the new year is one of the most challenging times to collect enough blood products, despite the constant demand.
In partnership with the National Football League, those who come to give blood, platelets or plasma through Jan. 31, will be automatically entered to win a trip for two to Super Bowl LVII in Arizona, including access to day-of, in-stadium pre-game activities, tickets to the official Super Bowl Experience, round-trip airfare to Phoenix, three-night hotel accommodations, plus a $500 gift card for expenses.
There are two upcoming blood drives where donations can be made. One is 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, by the Rotary Club of Liberty at Kansas City Church, 7700 N. Church Road. The other blood drive is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 NE 72nd St., Gladstone.
To book a time to give blood or platelets, visit RedCrossBlood.org, download the Red Cross Blood Donor App or call 1-800-RED CROSS.
