Darren Bass was named chief executive officer for St. Luke’s North Region, which includes the Smithville hospital location. He replaces Adele Ducharme, who retired after serving for more than a decade.
Bass joins St. Luke’s from CoxHealth in Springfield, where he served as vice president of Clinical Services. He previously served in executive leadership positions at Cox Monett Hospital and in rehabilitation leadership roles consistent with his clinical background as a physical therapist.
“Darren is a proven health care executive with more than 20 years of experience,” said Julie Quirin, St. Luke’s Health System senior vice president and chief operating officer. “The success of CoxHealth and Cox Monett Hospital under his leadership is a testament to his commitment to quality care and clinical excellence.”
As CEO of St. Luke’s North Region, Bass will oversee St. Luke’s North Hospital–Barry Road and St. Luke’s North Hospital–Smithville, which combined, features 160 patient beds and serves a three-county area of nearly 450,000 residents.
He joins the hospitals on the heels of recent expansions in oncology, maternity services and behavioral health programs.
“I look forward to continue building upon the great work happening across the St. Luke’s North Region and getting to know the growing community,” Bass said. “My family and I are excited to call the Northland home.”
