LIBERTY — Charges have been filed in last week's shooting incident in which shots were fired in the area of Claywoods Parkway and Sumac Drive around midnight Friday, Nov. 15.

On Sunday, Nov. 17, the Clay County Prosecutor's Office charged Tyler J. Parton, 21, of Liberty with a class B felony of discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle into a structure. He is being held on $100,000 bond.

Capt. Andy Hedrick, Liberty Police Department public information officer, said the department continues to investigate this case.

“The department takes the act of shooting into houses seriously, and they followed up quickly, which resulted in the arrest,” he said. “As far as the link to the shootings earlier this fall, the connection between the cases is also under investigation.”

On Sept. 23, police responded to reports of gunshots in the neighborhood around the 600 block of Camelot Drive.

On a resident's Ring doorbell, occupants in two vehicles can be seen and the pops of fired gunshots is clear. One home was struck by gunfire and there were no injuries reported, Hedrick said.

There also were no injuries in this round of shooting.
