On Mondays in July, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the St. James Catholic Church, 309 S. Stewart Road, Father Mike Roach and Patti Stark will lead a reflection period look at prayer and meditation through scripture and breathing to strengthen faith and focus.

LUMC offers Johnny’s Café on the second Saturday of each month in the Family Life Center at the Sunset campus, 1001 Sunset Ave. A free, restaurant-style lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 13, to anyone in need of a hot meal. First Baptist Church of Smithville

Vacation Bible School for children in kindergarten through sixth grade will be held on July 20. Check-in begins at 9 a.m. with school from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 300 S. Bridge St.

The day includes Bible-learning experiences, team-building games and songs and multisensory Bible adventures.

Those participating are asked to bring a donation of either new underwear, socks, feminine care products or toiletries for the community pantry. Monetary donations are also welcome.

Lunch will be provided.
