SMITHVILLE — A dog park is finally making it's way to Smithville Lake. More than 30 supporters including city and county leaders turned ground on the long awaited, much anticipated project in Smithville Monday, Sept. 14.

The city of Smithville worked with several partnerships in an effort to create a state‐of‐the‐art dog park to be located at Smithville Lake near the Little Platte South Trail Access at the corner of Litton Way and Old Jefferson Highway, 17325 Old Jefferson Highway.

This much‐anticipated amenity has been in conversations for over a year and is made possible through coordination with Clay County, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Smithville Park Advisory Board, Clay County Park Advisory Board and a group of citizen activists.
