SMITHVILLE — In an email from City Administrator Cynthia Wagner, the city of Smithville is continuing with business as usual until advised otherwise by the county, state or community health departments amid COVID-19 concerns.
"At this point, parks and recreation programming is continuing as scheduled," Wagner said. "However, changes could occur as the situation warrants."
Currently, Wagner said public spaces should appear as usual as the city has sufficient supplies on hand despite dwindling toilet paper supplies and sanitizer in stores.
With a comprehensive plan public process event scheduled for the week of March 23, Wagner said city staff are working with consultants and evaluating online meeting options and other opportunities for involvement rather than a public meeting.
"We anticipate a determination on that process early next week," Wagner said Friday, March 13.
This is a developing story and will be updated as information becomes available.
