Mid-Continent Public Library is hosting its biannual Food for Fines program this fall. From Monday to Sunday, Sept. 9 through 15, library fines will be forgiven based on donations of nonperishable food items.

During the week, each library location will forgive $1 of fines per each donated item with a limit of $10 in fine forgiveness. Those with no fines can donate food items as a "pay it forward" forgiveness for other people's fines, according to a library press release.

To date, MCPL has collected over 130,000 items for local charities through Food for Fines. For more information, contact an MCPL library branch.
