SMITHVILLE — In April, Smithville voters will decide who will serve the next two-year term in the city’s First and Third Ward aldermanic seats. Those seats are currently held by Josh Hurlbert and Marvin Atkins, respectively.
Two candidates, Arthur Smith and Dan Ulledahl, will appear on the ballot for the First Ward. Candidates Marvin Atkins and Jerry D. Stewart will appear on the ballot for the Third Ward.
Although uncontested, races for Second Ward and mayor will appear on the ballot as there is an option for a write-in candidate. Unopposed in his reelection bid for the Second Ward aldermanic seat is Steve Sarver. Mayor Damien Boley is also running unopposed for reelection.
The city will also ask voters to decide the fate of a half-cent sales tax for parks, recreation and stormwater needs.
Details about the candidates will be featured in a future edition of the Courier-Tribune.
