KEARNEY — With filing for the April ballot complete, Kearney’s Second Ward has a contested aldermanic race.
Incumbent Marie Steiner will face Alex Porter and David Lehman for election to the two-year seat on the board of aldermen.
In the city’s First Ward, only incumbent Gerri Spencer has filed for reelection. While she is running unopposed, the First Ward seat will remain on the ballot.
In addition to voting for aldermen, Kearney voters will be asked if they approve of a ballot question that would double the term length for future aldermen from two to four years. If passed, the new term length would take effect with the 2021 election cycle.
