Crossroads Community Church of Kearney

The youth Bible quiz team travels to Kansas City Saturday, Dec. 14, for a district quiz.

Kids will present Christmas songs at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 15. Christmas carolers will gather at 5 p.m. at Westbrook Care Center, 401 S. Platte-Clay Way. The group will sing for residents.

First Baptist Church of Kearney

The men’s breakfast is Dec. 14, at The Falls, 22610 Missouri Highway 92.

The church’s “A Kearney Christmas,” a night of carol singing and a dessert bar welcomes the public at 5 p.m. at 303 S. Grove St.

The monthly men’s third Thursday lunch is at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 19, at Gino’s Italian Cuisine, 123 E. Washington St.

St. James Catholic Church of Liberty

The congregation at St. James Catholic Church, 309 S. Stewart Road, continues to look at the Novena. It traditionally is a nine-day devotion, however, in an effort to make it easier for parishioners to attend during the busy Christmas season, the devotion will be held one evening a week for nine weeks. The devotion is Saturdays at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 14, 21, and 28. The date and time of the final devotion will be announced later. The location will be in the conference rooms in the newly remodeled Resource Center, located in the former St. James business offices.

Precious Blood Renewal Center of Liberty

From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, there will be an Advent Day of Reflection. The lessons will include looking at the infancy narrative according to the Gospel of Matthew. Liberty United Methodist Church

The church offers Johnny’s Café Saturday, Dec. 14, in the Family Life Center at the Sunset campus, 1001 Sunset Ave. A free, restaurant-style lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to anyone in need.

Our Savior Lutheran Church of Smithville

Preschoolers through fourth-graders and their parents are invited to join others from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, at the church, 1103 S. Commercial Ave., for a “Night in Bethlehem” experience. In open-house form, children will participate in different hands-on activities, visit the stable and mingle with the town’s people, shepherds, angels and soldiers. First Christian Church of Smithville

The Smithville Community is invited to a drop-in photography show featuring photos and stories from the Rev. Dr. Lara Blackwood Pickrel’s recent sabbatical, which included trips to the mountains of North Carolina and the highlands of Scotland.

The event is open house style from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3 Link Coffee, 106 N. Bridge St.

A Christmas concert featuring River City Reeds Saxophone Quartet will begin at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, at the church, 201 N. Bridge St. Following the concert will be a reception.
