LIBERTY — The cities of Liberty, Kansas City and the Missouri Department of Transportation will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 26, to help celebrate the completion of a new dual bridge, located at Missouri Highway 152 and Interstate 35.
The ceremony will take place on the south portion of the bridge. Attendees should plan to park on the west end and use existing sidewalks to access the event area. There will be no on-site parking.
Back in March of 2019, crews began building the two companion bridges with eight lanes in one and three lanes in the other. Part of the new dual bridge system will feature a diverging diamond configuration.
While the new dual bridge is a major milestone in the project, there is still work to be completed that will cause traffic disruptions, according to a MoDOT press release.
Ahead of the opening, MoDOT will make final traffic changes for setting of overhead sign trusses.
Crews will close the right lane of northbound I-35 at Highway 152 from 7:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. Thursday to Friday, Aug. 22 to 23. The northbound I-35 off-ramp at Highway 152 will also be closed during the same time period.
