CLAY COUNTY — According to crash reports from the Missouri Highway Patrol, nine people were injured in six wrecks that occurred in Clay County in six days.

The first wreck took place around 10 a.m. Feb. 3 at Missouri Highways 1 and 152. According to the crash report, Cassidy E. Wegeng, 17, of Kearney drove a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 truck northbound and attempted to overtake a 2016 Dodge Focus driven northbound by Benjamin S. Coale, 18, of Liberty. The truck rear-ended the car.

Coale suffered minor injuries.

The second wreck occurred nearly 24 hours later at 10:44 a.m. Feb. 4 when Sebastian N. Manning, 18, of Blue Springs drove a 2006 Chrysler southbound on the Interstate 35 ramp to Vivion Road.

The vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and stuck the guardrail.

An unidentified 16-year-old passenger, also of Blue Springs, suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene.

The third crash, according to the highway patrol, happened around 2 a.m. Feb. 5 when James L. Reed of Independence drove a 1997 Ford northbound on I-35. The crash occurred as the vehicle ran off the the left side of the exit ramp to Vivion Road and overturned.

The crash, according to the accident report, totaled the vehicle.

Reed suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment.

Another wreck occurred around 1 p.m. Feb. 6 on Interstate 29, south of Waukomis Street.

Olivia L. Hernandez, 69, of Kansas City drove a 2013 Kia Soul northbound. According to the accident report, as Hernandez attempted to change lanes in the vehicle, it struck a 1999 Jeep driven northbound by Anthony P. Mihalevich, 73, of Kirksville.

After the impact, the Kia Soul ran off the left side of the interstate and struck a concrete barrier, totaling the vehicle.

Hernandez and a passenger in the Soul, Teresa Baker, 71, of Pleasant Valley suffered moderate injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment.

Another interstate wreck that occurred in Clay County Feb. 6 took place at 4 p.m. on I-35 south of Armour Road.

The crash occurred when a 2011 Chevy Aveo, driven by Sandra A. Woodring, 65, of Pattonsburg did not slow or stop for traffic and struck the rear of a 2011 Range Rover.

Woodring suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the Range Rover, Laura T. Soto, 49, of Kansas City also suffered moderate injuries. Both were treated at North Kansas City Hospital.

An accident also occurred in the southbound lanes of I-35 Feb. 7. That domino-effect wreck involving three vehicles occurred near mile marker 8.8 around 7:10 a.m.

According to the highway patrol crash report, a 2016 Volvo tractor trailer driven Elmer A. Reuse, 63, of Buckner did not stop for traffic and rear-ended a 2011 Nissan driven by Arno Boyle, 63, of Kansas City.

The impact pushed the Nissan into the rear of a 2016 Dodge driven by Bari J. Allen, 32, of Holt. The Nissan was towed from the scene, but both the Volvo and the Dodge were driven from the scene.

Boyle suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital.

The last wreck in the six-day span occurred at 3 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, on the I-35 northbound ramp to Northeast Antioch Road.

The accident occurred when a 2005 Acura driven by Kim T. Le, 26, of Gladstone traveled off the left side of the road, hit a guardrail and overturned.

Le, who suffered minor injuries, was taken by ambulance to North Kansas City Hospital for treatment.
