The annual Bill James 5/10K run as part of the first weekend of Jesse James festival events begins at 8 a.m. at North Grove and Boude streets. Early packet pick-up is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, at Club 7 fitness center, 655 Missouri Highway 92 in Kearney. Race proceeds benefit the Heroes Memorial in Jesse James Park. OATS Transit provides transportation to essential shopping destinations between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to seniors age 60 and older and those with disabilities age 18 to 59. Fare is $2 each way. To schedule a ride on the above routes call the OATS Transit office at 380-7433.

Kearney Business Group, a referral group that focuses on one membership per industry category, meets at 8 a.m. every Thursday to learn about city businesses, sharing details on growing businesses and to pass along referrals. The group meets in the K.C. Coyote offices of First Missouri Bank’s building at 455 Sam Barr Drive, Suite 107.
