Suicide Prevention Week activities continue with a presentation about how to talk about suicide including a Q&A with therapists and counselors following. The event is from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Smithville Performing Arts Theater, 645 S. Commercial Ave.

Saturday, Sept. 14

At 7 p.m., as part of Suicide Prevention Week, a candlelit remembrance walk will travel from historic downtown Smithville to Heritage Park beginning at 7 p.m. Following at 9 p.m. will be movie in Courtyard Park screening “Inside Out.”

Tuesday, Sept. 17A food pantry is available at First Christian Church between 8:30 and 11:30 a.m. at 201 N. Bridge St. To learn about the Christian Church pantry, call 532-0773. A second pantry at Bridge Street Ministries will open its food and clothing pantry from 10 a.m. to noon at First Baptist Church, 300 S. Bridge St. For more information, call 532-0164.

Storytime for toddlers is at 9:30 a.m. followed by storytime for preschoolers at 10:30 a.m. at the Smithville branch of Mid-Continent library.

Smithville’s Strategic Planning Think-Tank Reconvene begins at 6 p.m. at Smithville High School, 645 S. Commercial Ave. Participants will be presented with the data collected from the first Think-Tank and subsequent meetings and surveys.
