LIBERTY — The Missouri Department of Transportation will make traffic changes starting Friday, Nov. 1, as part of the Interstate 35 and Missouri Highway 152 improvement project in Liberty.
All work is weather dependent.
Crews will close various lanes of northbound and southbound I-35 between the Flintlock Flyover and the Missouri Highway 291 bridge from 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1 until noon Saturday, Nov. 2, for installation of rock, removing traffic barriers and installing guardrail and guard cable.
"Motorists should plan ahead to avoid delays. Originally, this work was scheduled Monday, Oct. 28, but was cancelled due to weather," states a MoDOT release.
Work is part of a project to replace the Highway 152 bridge over I-35 and make improvements to Kansas Street and Highway 291 including adding wider lanes and additional turn lanes.
"It will also address bicycle and pedestrian needs along the corridor and a multiple-use path along the south side of Route 152 and Kansas Street," states the release.
The project is expected to be completed in 2020. This project is in partnership with the cities of Liberty and Kansas City. For more details, visit www.modot.org/152-interchange-project.
