CLAY COUNTY — Sheriff’s office deputies and administrators were left scratching their heads early Monday morning, Nov. 8, after finding the office’s Facebook page looked different from the previous day.

According to a post from the office on Twitter, the Facebook page was hacked. The law enforcement agency is reportedly working with Facebook “to determined what happened.”

The alleged hacker or hackers replaced the Clay County Sheriff's Office's profile picture with an image of former Chinese Communist ruler Mao Zedong with the caption “DESTROY AMERICA.” A second image featuring what looks a bomb superimposed over the Chinese flag with a mushroom cloud was also posted.

“We’re still working on the full recovery of our Facebook page, but wanted to thank everyone for your concern and support,” states a Facebook post from the agency after recovering control of the page. “We’ll share more as we’re able.”
