Missouri State Library awards funds for school libraries collections

The Missouri State Library, a division of the Secretary of State's office, awarded $8,000 as part of the Remote Electronic Access for Libraries Program to support the MOREnet Shared Digital Collection with OverDrive.

“I’m pleased the State Library can assist our public schools to expand the offerings available to so many students,” said Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft. “Libraries are such an important part of the fabric of a community and are an important piece of a school’s fabric, too.”

Funding will be used to purchase 219 new e-books and audiobooks that will be added to a public school consortium that is working together to bring more electronic resources to Missouri's school children. All titles cover elementary to high school grade levels with fiction and nonfiction selections.

The REAL Program is funded by an appropriation in House Bill 12.
