Smithville is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Missouri 92, providing easy access to the metro area and nearby Kansas City International airport. The city's current population is nearly 10,000.

Last week, the city of Smithville emailed interested participants about the Think-Tank strategic planning event, requesting participation in a 10-minute survey by Tuesday, May 7. The survey can be found at

Results of this survey will help pool the ideas of community members interested in participating in the Think-Tank strategic planning event by focusing on community perspectives regarding key trends in shaping the future of Smithville.

The Think-Tank will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 8 at Smithville High School, 645 S. Commercial.

Participants in the Think-Tank are still sought through May 1. Those interested can apply to participate on the city website, by selecting "strategic planning" under the "Community" tab.
