Mrs. Leta “Maudella” Patterson, daughter of the late George Elsworth Bradley and Beatrice McHenry Bradley was born October 17, 1932 in Smithville, Missouri.
She attended the public schools in Smithville. After she received her nursing degree, she became an obstetrics nurse at Spelman Hospital in Smithville until her retirement. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Smithville where her husband served as music director for many years. At the time of her death, she was a beloved and active member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles located in St. Charles, Missouri. She was united in holy matrimony to Donn Lanford Patterson in April of 1958 in Smithville, Missouri. This union was blessed with two children. Donn Patterson preceded her in death on May 31, 1993.
As a result of Maudella’s generous spirit, she was loved by many. Her Christian life was inspirational, and her influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew her. She quietly departed this life on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Cedarhurst Assisted Living located in St. Charles, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her son Larry Michael Patterson; her sisters Alice LaVerne White and Cleora Pearl Anderson; and her brothers Henry Lowell Bradley, John Carlyle Bradley and Calvin Grayson Bradley; and niece Carol Bradley Dean.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of her son Kent Dean Patterson, and daughter-in-law Dawn Ellen Anderson of St. Charles, Missouri; twin grandsons Andrew Marvin Patterson and Matthew Donn Patterson of St. Charles, Missouri; devoted family members: Gary and Sarah Anderson; Crayton and Jan White; and Ray and Gail Dean; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was dearly loved and will be missed by fellow members of Bob Hart’s Bible study class of the First Baptist Church in St. Charles, Missouri.
The family would especially like to thank special friends Jan Hart of St. Charles, Missouri, and Al and Thelma Schettler of Florissant, Missouri, for their relentless care for Maudella as she fought her brave battle with cancer over the last months of her life.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday July 20th, 2019 at the Smithville Community Cemetery.
