Sydney Elise Griffith, 16, of San Antonio, Texas, died Nov. 2, 2020.

She was born on Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Kellie Griffith and Stephen Griffith. She was raised in Merritt Island, Florida, and attended Tropical Elementary, Edgewood Junior/Senior High School and was a junior at Harlan High School in San Antonio. Sydney was a free spirit who always loved adventure including scuba diving, world travel, skateboarding, snowboarding, and most recently taking flight lessons. Sydney was a gifted musician who played several instruments including the acoustic guitar, electric guitar, ukulele, violin, drums, and cello. Sydney was gifted, kind, inquisitive, thoughtful, and a bright star in our orbit.

Sydney is survived by her mother, Kellie Griffith; father, Stephen Griffith; stepmother, Laura Griffith; and brothers, Alexander Griffith and Austin Griffith. She also leaves her maternal grandparents, Andy and Jan Andes of Kearney, Missouri; and her paternal grandmother, Jennie Griffith of New Smyrna Beach, Florida. Sydney was adored by her extended family including cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents.

Sydney’s life will be remembered as one of wonderment and awe for her brilliance and beauty and her care for all of creation. A memorial service is being planned for the family at Broadway Christian Church in Columbia, Missouri, to be held on Saturday, Nov. 14. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Memorial Funeral Home in Columbia, Missouri.
