Virginia Lee Cook, 87, of Liberty, Missouri passed away on July 16, 2020.

Virginia was born in New Hampton, Missouri to Carrie and Harry Swartz on September 10, 1932. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1950. She attended nursing school at UMKC for one semester. She married Ferris Cook on March 16, 1952 at the First Christian Church in New Hampton, Missouri. They then moved to Kansas City, Missouri.

Virginia worked in the Accounting Department of Western Auto and then chose to be a stay at home mom. After her daughters were older she worked as a Sales Clerk and Assistant Manager of Cokesbury Bookstore for 24 years until her retirement in 1996. She was a 50-year member and elder of The Budd Park Christian Church then transferred her membership to Liberty Christian Church, where she was an elder emeritus. Virginia was very active in her daughters’ school PTA and her church’s CWF groups. Virginia was a devoted mother and grandmother that will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Ferris Cook and her half-brother Charles Lowe.

Virginia is survived by her two daughters Sandy (Roger) McCollum and Debbie (Russell) Craun as well as four grandsons Jeff (Collin) McCollum, Michael (Cindy) McCollum, Lucas Craun (Ellie Englert - Fiance) and Jacob Craun.
