Editor's Note: This letter was submitted to the Courier-Tribune as a letter to the editor but directs its comments to Kearney Mayor Randy Pogue.

We want to say "thank you" for your deciding to vote in support of the youth of Kearney during the (aldermen) meeting regarding Tobacco 21. It is such a pleasure seeing Kearney officials taking a strong stand regarding the health of our kids and their future as adults.

This stance is a great example for the school board and teachers as it reflects the expected future trend by Kearney leaders years to come.

We know it isn't easy sometimes to do the right thing and take it takes a lot of courage and moral fortitude. For that, we are very appreciative.
