'Into the Woods'

"Into the Woods," which mashes up favorite fairy tales, was performed by Liberty High School students earlier this month.

"Into The Woods" at Liberty High School was a rousing success thanks to the student actors, costume makers, musicians and set creators.

With the help of their teachers, parents and other community members, these young people once again transformed their Little Theater into a magical world.

In addition to the obvious talent showcased on the stage, this musical production also reflected the skill and countless number of hours spent by students prior to the performance. They must plan and build the set; design, cut out and sew costumes. Work starts shortly after the school year begins and continues several weeks sandwiched in between all the other student activities. Somehow they manage to pull it off every year.

This production was especially poignant as it will likely be the last musical performance in the Little Theater. While it does present a challenge to put on such a big production in such a small space, the Little Theater provides a special intimate setting. I will miss it, but look forward to next year's production in the new theater.

The student talent and community support for the arts in LPS district is awesome.
