Annual Dam Run along Smithville Lake

The annual Smithville Dam Run will be from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Sept. 29, at Smithville Lake.

SMITHVILLE — The Smithville Dam Run returns this year from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, Sept. 29, at the Smithville Lake Dam, located at 1601 Missouri Highway DD.

Sponsored by Smithville Rotary Club, this 5K run/walk event begins with a Chris Cakes breakfast and features a 1-mile fun walk. The 5K is a chip-timed race while the fun walk is not timed.

Awards will be presented to the first three 5K finishers overall in male and female categories. Medals will be given to the first three finishers in five-year age groups from 20 to 80 and above and medals will alos be awarded to top-3 male and female finishers aged 10 and under, 11 to 14, and 15 to 19.

Early registration is open through Wednesday, Sept. 25. Fees are as follows:

  • 5K, $30;
  • Man's Best Friend 5K, $40; and
  • 1-Mile Fun Walk: $20.

Fees include commemorative shirt, chip timing and pancake breakfast. For spectators and family, an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast is available for $5.

Registration is available the day of the event at an increased rate but shirts are not guaranteed.
