At the regular Board of Education meeting Jan. 17, board members approved the hiring of Beth Heide as assistant superintendent of academic services. Heide has served as the executive director of secondary education at LPS since July 2016. Her new duties, which she will assume July 1, will now have her leading the Academic Services Department.
Prior to her move to LPS last summer, Heide spent much of her career in the Center School District, where she most recently served as the director of human resources and director of student services. Her career in education has spanned 22 years and has seen her serve in roles as classroom teacher for 10 years, high school assistant principal for four years and high school principal for four years.
“I am so excited to continue my professional journey with Liberty Public Schools,” Heide said. “Liberty’s standard of excellence sets it apart as a leader in education. In moving to an assistant superintendent role, I am looking forward to working more closely with the entire system to continue to ensure the success of every child.”
Heide has a history degree from Avila University, a master’s degree from Baker University and is currently completing her doctorate from the University of Kansas.
LPS will soon begin an internal search to fill the position of executive director of secondary education, vacated following Heide’s appointment.
