Toward the end of the school year, Smithville district leaders honor the top teacher and the top employee of the year.

Haley Jordan, an eighth-grade English language arts teacher at Smithville Middle School, received the Teacher of the Year award for the 2021-22 school year. Jordan began her teaching career in 2017 in the Park Hill School District and then moved to Smithville.
