The site also provides taxpayers a chance to submit questions, which will be answered by administration with answers posted to the site.

SMITHVILLE — While all Missouri school districts are required to post financial information online, Smithville School District is taking financial transparency one step further by allowing district patrons to submit questions online, which will be answered by staff with answers also posted online.

Assistant Superintendent of Support Services Wayne Krueger said to meet the online financials requirement, all expenditures for the month will be posted to smithvilleschooldistrict.net. To access details, patrons can click on the Business and Finance drop-down option under the Departments tab of the homepage. Information available includes former audits and budgets, budget recovery details, revenue and expenses to date and a check register.

"Following the August Board of Education meeting, we will publish July data. In September, we will publish July and August data and so on," said Krueger.

What is unique about the Smithville portal, Krueger explained, is anyone with questions can submit them by clicking the Questions/Concerns link on the left side of the Business and Finance page.

Superintendent Todd Schuetz said names of those who ask questions will not be posted in an effort to respect individual's privacy. Answers will be posted by district administration for all to see.

For more information, contact the district at 532-0406.
