Liberty athletes announce D-II commitments

LIBERTY — Two Liberty High School student-athletes announced commitments to Division II schools.

Ben Jones said he’ll play baseball at Northwest Missouri State and Courtney Byrd announced her intentions to play soccer at Missouri Southern State.

“After much thought, I am excited to announce that I have committed to Northwest Missouri State University to further my academic and baseball career,” Jones tweeted Oct. 9. “I want to thank my family and coaches for helping me get to this point!”

Byrd officially closed her recruiting with her own tweet Oct. 9.

“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and soccer career at MSSU,” Byrd posted. “I want to thank all my coaches, friends and most importantly, my family for helping me get to this point in my life. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
