Liberty North boys roll to 66-45 win over Lee’s Summit

Liberty North's Benny Kaplan scores a team-high 18 points as the Eagles drain 14 3-pointers in their most recent game. Kaplan is pictured here at the William Jewell Holiday Classic in December.

LIBERTY  Liberty North boys basketball gave a complete performance in its 66-45 win over conference foe Lee’s Summit on Friday, Feb. 7.

The Eagles (10-10, 3-5 Suburban Red) built a 18-point halftime lead with 10 made 3-pointers in the first half before their smothering defense held the Tigers to just 1 point in the third quarter.

Senior guard Benny Kaplan led the way with 18 points, followed by senior guard Brock Niemeier’s 14.

The Eagles have won six of their last seven games, all of which were either nail-biters or blowouts. Three of those wins were by less than 3 points and the other three were by at least 10. The one loss was a 2-point loss in OT against Truman on Jan. 28.

The Eagles will host Staley in a conference game at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11.
